    MHM Solutions (MHM), in partnership with the State of Nevada, Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services – Elder Protective Services (EPS) seek a full-time Advocate Specialist. This position is located in Reno, NV.

    • Status: Full-time, contractor
    • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift
    • Duration: Through 30-June-2019 with the possibility of extension(s)
    • Travel: 50%; using personal vehicle


    The Advocate Specialist will team with the Department’s Licensed Social Workers to provide crisis intervention services. Responsibilities include:

    • Providing emergency food and clothing.
    • Arranging transportation services and shelter as well as identifying other emergency services that are intended to restore the victim’s sense of security.
    • Providing community education and training on a variety of topics related to abuse, abandonment, neglect, exploitation and isolation.
    • Assisting in taking reports of abandonment, abuse, neglect, isolation and exploitation via phone calls through the Central Intake System or through walk-in reports.
    • Individual or group presentations done via PowerPoint.

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, sociology or related social science or human services field;
    • 1 year of experience working with the elderly investigating, mediating, negotiating and resolving complaints which required the application of regulations, laws, policies, procedures in making determinations and preparing detailed reports
    • Must be able to travel (using own vehicle) throughout the Reno, NV territory (that includes, but not limited to Tonopah, Carson City, Tahoe City areas).
    • Ability to use and troubleshoot PowerPoint in order to conduct presentations. 


    Special Requirements:

    A valid Class C driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
