    Activity Technician 

     

    Centurion of Florida iscurrently seeking a Full-Time Activity Tech to join our Team at the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution in Milton, Florida.

     

    The Activity Tech is under the direction of professional mental health staff, and uses recreational/social/vocational activities to accomplish treatment objectives, foster skill building and problem solving in support of psychological stabilization for patients in a correctional setting.  

     

    Duties include:

    • Create and provide recreational groups designed to address symptoms, provide structured cognitives and social stimulation and promote individual recovery and well being
    • Conduct assessments of detainees recreational and adaptive living needs  
    • Participate in treatment team meeting and provide recreation goals and appropriate interventions to assist the detainee in reaching those goals
    • Prepare psycho-education videos for inmates, review with inmates when complete 
    • Distribute in-cell programming materials
    • Work collaboratively with RN staff and State Psychology staff to assist with programming

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’ degree in Social Sciences, required, with 2 years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation or related field; providing activities programming for persons who have a serious mental illness required.
    • Must maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification.
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.
    • Training, experience or certification as a nurse’ aide, medical technician, EMT, or activities technician preferred.
    • Experience working in a correctional mental health setting preferred.
