    Centurion of Mississippi is proud to be the provider of healthcare services to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.  Centurion, a partnership between MHM Services and Centene, is a leading provider of healthcare, mental healthcare and dental services to inmates throughout the state.

    We are seeking a part-time Clinical Pharmacist to work at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville, MS.

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders.  Acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel.  Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the related duties.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Aid the Director of Pharmacy and Regional Pharmacy Consultant in performing formulary drug reviews, gaining clinical consensus and monitoring the impact of Preferred Drug List (formulary).
    2. Assist in the development, implementation and outcomes assessment of clinical programs.
    3. Provide support for the prior authorization process and for utilization management activities.
    4. Assist in the direct communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals involving pharmacy business.
    5. Contribute to educating other departments by involvement in committees and training.
    6. Assist the Director as required in management of the PBM contract and PBM staff including the assurance that all dispensed drugs are recorded and delivered in accordance with local, state federal laws or regulations.
    7. Support the administration of the medication error reporting system.
    8. Perform drug pipeline surveillance.
    9. The Clinical Pharmacist in addition to having a strong clinical background must have a strong financial acumen to comprehend trend, utilization and cost reporting analysis and pharmacoeconomic analysis.

    Qualifications

    LICENSING: Mississippi State Pharmacist license or abillity to obtain

    CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification

    EDUCATION: Pharm. D. preferred. 

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience

    OTHER PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Deep knowledge on drugs, medical procedures and therapies, diagnosis and disease states.
