    Centurion of Florida has an exciting opportunity for a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join our growing team. This is a per diem (as needed) position, working approximately 20 hours per month between Wakulla Correctional Institution in Crawfordville, FL and Columbia Correctional Institution in Lake City, FL.  Hours can be somewhat flexible, however they must be Monday-Friday, day shift.

    Job Description:

    • Educate incarcerated clients/patients with vision impairments, the skills needed for safety and independent living in a prison setting.
    • Prepare and maintain client’s/patient's progress reports and future goals.
    • Analyze and determine client's/patient’s maximum travel potential using guides and canes.
    • Assist client/patient in body image relation, spatial and environment orientation skills.
    • Assess and record client's/patient’s orientation and mobility skills.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in O&M or related field
    • ACVREP COMS® certification or eligibility to sit for ACVREP COMS exam
    • FL driver’s license and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively within assigned geographic area
    • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
    • Experience in correctional setting preferred, not required
    • Current CPR certification and TB screening documentation required
