    We are currently seeking a full time Administrative Assistant to work at our Patuxent Institution in Jessup, MD with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. This position is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

     

    The Administrative Assistant performs web-based scheduling services and clerical duties in a correctional setting.

     

    Some Essential Duties:

    • Perform clerical, administrative and secretarial duties
    • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems, and use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications
    • Complete forms in accordance with company procedures
    • Schedule for particular sites in region assigned and provide coverage for other schedulers as needed
    • Schedule outpatient, inpatient, psychology referrals, inmate requests, etc. in a timely manner
    • Generate productivity reports as needed  Communicate with Company and DOC staff to schedule daily appointments
    • Communicate with the Regional or Corporate offices, and other sites, as needed
    • Perform web-based scheduling services and clerical duties in a correctional setting.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Must maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
    • Minimum of one (1) year of secretarial or office experience required
    • Must have Intermediate Excel skills.  Must pass the basic Microsoft Office skills test.

    • Good communication and organizational skills, professional phone etiquette, and accurate typing skills
    • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Prefer working knowledge of spreadsheets and data base programs as well
